Verizon, Boldyn Networks to Construct 5G Network Towers at Fort Bliss

Verizon has attended a groundbreaking ceremony at Fort Bliss in Texas, marking the start of a construction project delivering 5G connectivity to soldiers.

Verizon will work with Boldyn Networks to set up the infrastructure needed to provide 5G connectivity at Fort Bliss, which will serve military personnel in Texas and New Mexico. Specifically, the two companies will erect 10 Macro towers designed to deliver broad and robust coverage across Fort Bliss.

The construction project received $1 million in funding, Verizon said.

According to Martin Mallady, associate director for Verizon’s Department of Defense business, the cellular tower at Fort Bliss will improve operational capabilities and the quality of life of soldiers and their families living on the base.

The Fort Bliss work is one of several partnerships between Verizon and the U.S. government.

In December 2023, the company obtained a $15 million task order from the U.S. Navy for voice and data services to service members stationed within and outside the United States. In November 2023, the Department of Veterans Affairs and Verizon announced a cooperative research and development agreement to provide broadband internet to veterans in remote areas, ensuring that they have access to telehealth and essential health care services.
