Dr. Kimberly Elenberg

Dr. Kimberly Jill Elenberg, a retired captain of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS), is a distinguished leader in the fields of biosurveillance, emergency response, and national security. With a robust career spanning several decades, Dr. Elenberg has consistently demonstrated her expertise and strategic vision in the domain of public health and biodefense. Currently serving as the director of data and ML/AI strategy for National Security and Intelligence at ECS, Dr. Elenberg leverages her deep understanding of data science and machine learning to enhance national security measures. She served as the incident response commander for modeling and analytics for the Office of the Secretary of Defense COVID Task Force, providing daily briefings at the highest levels of government.

Dr. Elenberg's tenure as a principal scientist at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute Auton Lab has been instrumental in pioneering research and applications in robotics and autonomous systems, particularly focusing on enhancing the capabilities of biosurveillance technologies. Dr. Elenberg's expertise is not limited to the academic and research spheres. She has a proven track record of successful collaborations with government agencies, healthcare organizations, and the private sector. Her strategic insights and operational acumen have been critical in shaping policies and programs that enhance public health security and emergency response capabilities. Her work has been the embodiment of translational research, consistently bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in healthcare. Her research is grounded in the reality of healthcare delivery, making insights and innovations directly relevant and immediately applicable to those on the front lines.

As a retired captain of the USPHS, Dr. Elenberg brings a unique blend of clinical knowledge, military discipline, and strategic foresight to her endeavors. Her leadership during her service has been characterized by her commitment to advancing public health initiatives and safeguarding the health and well-being of communities. In recognition of her exceptional contributions, Dr. Elenberg has received numerous accolades including but not limited to the 2022 Defense Superior Service Medal; the 2022 USPHS Distinguished Service Medal; the 2021 Defense Meritorious Service Medal; the 2020 G2Xchange Leading for Impact, Women in IT Leadership Award; and the 2020 National Emergency Preparedness Award (NEPA).
