Director, Office of Regional Security and Arms Transfer, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs
Mr. Miller, a career Civil Servant and member of the Senior Executive Service, joined the State Department in 1998. Since 2009, he has been serving in the Office of Regional Security and Arms Transfers in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (PM/RSAT), including as its Director since December 2015. His previous positions at the Department of State include Program Manager for the Anti-Terrorism Assistance program, Special Assistant to the Coordinator for Counterterrorism, Counterterrorism Policy Advisor for the Middle East region, Desk officer for Oman and Yemen, and Foreign Affairs Officer for Middle East political-military issues. He also served abroad on a two-year Foreign Service tour in Tripoli, Libya as Economic and Commercial Attaché. Mr. Miller received a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics with honors from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. He also earned a Master of Arts in International Affairs with a focus on International Security Studies from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs in New York, NY. He has received numerous awards from the Department of State, including PM Officer of the Year (2011) and several Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards, and was nominated for the Service to America Medal (2012) and James Clement Dunn Award for Excellence (2015). He currently resides in Northern Virginia and is married with two sons.
