
Thomas Sasala

As the Executive Director, Mr. Sasala guides the agency by providing strategic direction, daily administrative oversight, and championing cloud services within the Army programming, planning, and budgeting processes. He directly supports the Army Chief Information Officer and warfighters by providing essential enterprise capabilities, services of common concern, and ensuring Army IT assets within the cloud are secure, resilient, and responsive to mission needs.
Prior to his role as the Executive Director, Mr. Sasala served as the Deputy Director of the Office of Enterprise Management where he was responsible for daily office operations and served as a horizontal integrating function across Army staff and secretariat. Mr. Sasala also served as the Chief Data Officer for the Department of the Navy where he implemented the OPEN Government Data Act, trained Naval workforce on data and data analytics, and provided high quality data to decision-makers and warfighters.
In the past Mr. Sasala served as the Director of Operations and Architecture for U.S. Army CIO/G-6 and the Chief Data Officer for the U.S. Army, the Chief Technology Officer for the Joint Service Provider and the U.S. Army Information Technology Agency (ITA), Senior Technology Director for McDonald Bradley, and other positions within the private sector. Mr. Sasala began his career as a student trainee at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) developing and fielding communication security products.
Mr. Sasala holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, and a Master of Science in Telecommunication and Computers from The George Washington University.
In 2014 Mr. Sasala received the Bold Award for Innovation, recognizing his creative problem-solving, technical acumen, ambition, and persistence. In 2015, Mr. Sasala was named a “Fed 100” honoring the top 100 contributors across Federal, state, and local governments.
