CMMC-AB to Begin Assessor Training in Mid-to-Late Summer
The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body has announced that the CMMC certified assessor training will begin by mid-to-late summer.
CMMC-AB made the announcement through its frequently asked questions webpage.
According to the accreditation body, the beginning of the training hinges on the authorization of professional classes that aspiring certified third-party assessment organizations have to complete, FCW reported Thursday.
The assessor training applies to all C3PAO candidates, including those that were selected on a provisional basis for CMMC pilots.
Approved third-party assessors will be listed on the CMMC-AB’s marketplace webpage as “Authorized C3PAOs.” A permanent marketplace portal is scheduled for release within the year.
Only one candidate C3PAO, which remains anonymous, has been successfully assessed at Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity Assessment Center’s maturity level 3, with several more still under assessment.
Securing initial approval from DIBCAC, which ensures contractor compliance in safeguarding information about weapons, equipment and systems, is a critical step in the CMMC process.
A nod from DIBCAC means that companies only need to get approval from the CMMC-AB to obtain a C3PAO status and begin officially assessing the cybersecurity maturity of defense contractors.
The CMMC-AB recently welcomed its new vice president of training and development.
Melanie Kyle Gingrich took over as the organization’s new training head a few weeks ago, replacing Ben Tchoubineh, who had been in charge of the organization’s training efforts since 2019.
Gingrich previously served as the senior director for government products at Monster Worldwide and VP for information technology and certification at Skillsoft.
