AWS Managed Services Receives FedRAMP High Authorization

Amazon Web Services has announced that the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program has given AWS Managed Services Accelerate high authorization in AWS GovCloud in the U.S. East and U.S. West regions.

AMS Accelerate is the AMS operations plan that can handle AWS infrastructure supporting workloads. It allows AWS adoption at scale and offers monitoring and alerting, incident management, security management and backup management services meant to enhance operations on AWS.

With the authorization, AMS Accelerate can now deal with workloads requiring a FedRAMP high categorization level, AWS said. AMS Accelerate comes with proactive, preventative and detective capabilities to reduce risks that come with innovation and with an optional patch add-on for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud-based workloads that require regular patching.

According to AWS, the service also comes with security features, noting that AMS Accelerate can provide troubleshooting assistance without gaining access to application configurations. It also protects critical data from unauthorized or malicious actors and ensures compliance with security and operational integrity standards, including those set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cloud Security Framework and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, through multiple controls such as AWS Config Rules and Amazon GuardDuty.

AMS Accelerate reports any standard violation as a result of resource changes, allowing users to address the issues immediately.
