Energy Department Awards Facility Deactivation Contract to HII Joint Venture
The Department of Energy has awarded Nationwide Remediation Partners, a Huntington Ingalls Industries joint venture, a 10-year contract for nationwide deactivation, decommissioning and removal services at excess agency facilities.
NRP's contract is a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity deal that has a 10-year ordering period and a maximum ordering ceiling of $3B, HII announced Monday.
“This contract award further strengthens our deep and long-standing relationship with the Department of Energy. We take pride in safely and efficiently supporting DOE in achieving our nation’s most complex environmental management missions,” said Michael Lempke, president of HII Technical Solutions' nuclear and environmental services division.
The joint partner will be joined by EnergySolutions Federal Support and Navarro Research and Engineering, a woman-owned small business. American Demolition and Nuclear Decommissioning, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business, is a named subcontractor.
Lempke said the formation of the contract team reaffirms HII's commitment to supporting small businesses.
"The strategic partnerships formed through this joint venture will enhance our collective competitiveness in the growing government and commercial nuclear decommissioning markets,” he added.
Work will primarily be done at excess DOE facilities nationwide. Services rendered through the contract are also available to the National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of Naval Reactors, Office of Science and other DOE and federal agencies that may request environmental management assistance.
HII is a premier American shipbuilding company and a provider of professional services to customers from the government and industry. Its technical division supports national security requirements with unmanned systems, defense and federal solutions and nuclear and environmental services.
