Lumen Secures Spots on VA’s Local Exchange, WAN Carriers
Lumen Technologies has secured two spots on contracts to provide network services to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Louisiana-based public company received the potential 15-year, $721M National Local Exchange Carrier Next Generation indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and the 12-year, $195M Data and Wide Area Network Carrier award.
Under the IDIQ contract, the organization, which is transacting as CenturyLink in the public sector market, will be an authorized service provider and can bid on task orders for various voice, video and data network services to help with the communication systems at VA medical centers and clinics.
The company was one of two contractors that landed the WAN deal, which is meant to improve the agency’s entire IT infrastructure and maintain network and ethernet services. The agreement is part of the General Services Administration’s 15-year, $50B Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions program.
David Young, senior vice president for the public sector and the global hyperscaler business and a two-time Wash100 winner, said the VA awarded the company spots on two next-generation services contract vehicles to help the agency carry out its mission to provide veterans with the benefits and services.
“As we honor veterans for their service, Lumen’s platform for data and applications is ideally positioned to help government agencies like the VA achieve their IT modernization goals,” he said.
In 2019, the organization was the first supplier to be given authority to operate under GSA’s EIS contract.
EIS is a multiple-award contract vehicle for federal government agencies to acquire IT and telecommunications infrastructure services. The contract allows agencies the flexibility and agility to shift to modern communications and IT services that meet strict government security standards.
The company provides the public sector market with security to operate missions by delivering cloud connectivity, collaboration, cybersecurity and managed IT services over carrier-class fiber networks.
